Award-Winning Hospitality: How I Earned Manager of the Second Quarter πŸ’›✨

Cassandra Arnold
Manager of the Quarter Award

Savannah is called The Hostess City of the South for a reason — and for me, it’s more than a nickname. It’s a calling. This August, I was honored to be named Manager of the Second Quarter at the historic River Street Inn, a recognition that celebrates not only my leadership but my unwavering belief that hospitality is the art of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

From the front desk to behind-the-scenes moments, every decision I make is guided by the values that have shaped my career and my brand: Hospitality. Empathy. Attentiveness. Respect. Trustworthiness. These aren’t just words — they’re the H.E.A.R.T. of my service philosophy and the reason this award means so much to me.

The Journey to This Moment

The past quarter has been filled with moments that tested my creativity, empathy, and leadership — from turning service challenges into guest smiles, to ensuring first-time visitors feel instantly at home, to welcoming back familiar faces with warmth and recognition.

During the luncheon, the recognition slide behind my name said things like:

  • “Quickly becoming the face of the hotel.”

  • “Kind. Caring. Passionate.”

  • “Goes above and beyond to resolve guest concerns.”

Reading those words out loud felt like confirmation that staying committed to people-first leadership always pays off.

Why This Win Matters for My Brand

For The Etiquette Evangelist, this award is more than a personal accomplishment. It’s a brand pillar that proves my work in luxury hospitality isn’t just about knowledge — it’s about real-world results and recognition.

It gives me:

  • Credibility – My expertise is now backed by an industry award.

  • Visibility – A moment to share my story and values with a wider audience.

  • Momentum – A perfect launchpad for upcoming products, workshops, and speaking engagements.

Looking Ahead

With this recognition fueling my next steps, I’m excited to:

  • Finalize my Whispers of Wisdom™ phrasebook for hospitality pros and guests.

  • Expand my guest service training programs both at River Street Inn and citywide.

  • Share more stories through Sandy Sees Savannah — my blog celebrating the intersection of etiquette, hospitality, and local culture.

My Gratitude Runs Deep

To my River Street Inn colleagues — thank you for walking this journey with me. To our guests — thank you for letting me be part of your Savannah story. And to my readers and Refined Rebels — thank you for reminding me that our shared values matter.

This win isn’t the end of a chapter. It’s the beginning of a bigger, bolder story. And I can’t wait for you to be part of it. 🀎

B. Matthews Eatery – Sunday Brunch with Southern Soul and a Side of Grace πŸ‡

B. Matthews

There’s something timeless about B. Matthews Eatery. Nestled on the corner of Bay Street and Habersham, this charming spot invites you to slow down, sip something cool, and savor a slice of Savannah’s soulful culinary scene. As your Etiquette Evangelist and Sunday brunch enthusiast, I knew this would be the perfect place to let grace and grits collide.

The staff embodied that relaxed but attentive Southern hospitality from the moment I arrived. I was greeted with a warm smile and seated quickly, even amid the weekend brunch buzz. It’s the kind of welcome that says, “You belong here,” and sets the tone for a gracious dining experience.

Exposed brick, warm wood tones, and golden morning light gave the space a cozy yet classic feel. The room buzzed with conversation but still allowed space for peaceful moments. With views of the historic district just steps away, it’s the kind of setting that invites reflection and connection, perfect for solo diners or groups alike.

Now let’s talk about what brought me in—brunch.

Starter: I sipped on a mimosa, which sparkled like sunshine in a glass—crisp bubbles dancing through golden citrus, with just enough zest to awaken your taste buds. Light, floral, and effervescent, it’s the sip of Southern brunch sophistication.

Main Course: I ordered the Classic Breakfast, two eggs, any style, you choice of meat - bacon, sausage, or homemade turkey maple apple sausage, and a homemade buttermilk biscuit that added the perfect balance of comfort and richness. I also ordered the extra home fries. These homefries were golden on the outside with just the right amount of crisp, they gave a satisfying crunch at first bite, followed by a soft, pillowy center that melts in your mouth. Each cube was pan-seared to perfection, with edges slightly caramelized for a hint of smoky depth. My breakfast arrived well-plated, and the first bite -- a celebration of bold Southern flavor.

My server checked in just enough—attentive but never intrusive.

Final Thoughts:

Would I return? Without hesitation. B. Matthews embodies the essence of Savannah: rooted in history, refined in hospitality.

πŸ“±✨ Digital Hospitality: Phone & Tablet Etiquette at the Table

The glow of a screen can be comforting, distracting, or downright rude—depending on how and when it’s used. As someone who lives and breathes hospitality, I’ve seen how tech at the table can change everything: the energy, the engagement, and the elegance of a moment.

Let’s explore how to balance connection and courtesy so that every shared space—whether in a five-star dining room or a boutique hotel breakfast nook—feels as gracious as it looks. 🍽️πŸ’‘

🍷 Why Digital Etiquette Matters in Hospitality

Whether you're dining with loved ones, hosting a client lunch, or savoring a solo moment at a sunny sidewalk cafΓ©, glowing screens can disrupt the ambiance.

For guests, phones may signal disinterest.
For staff, it creates an awkward dance of timing and attention.
For hosts, it feels like competing for eye contact.

✨ True digital hospitality is about presence. It says, “This moment matters.”

πŸ“– Table Etiquette for the Digital Age

Let’s explore a few Refined Rebel rules for managing your devices with grace:

1. No Phones on the Table, Please

Treat your phone like a sunhat at supper—tuck it away. πŸ“΅
If you're expecting a call, say so upfront with poise:

“I may need to step away briefly—thank you for understanding.”

2. Ask Before You Snap

Food photos are part of the fun—but check the room first.

Dining with others? “Mind if I grab a quick photo before we dive in?” πŸ΄πŸ“Έ
Dining solo? Snap, savor, and silence.

3. Silence is Still Golden

Always silence your device before the bread basket lands.
Buzzes, beeps, and flashes are the new clinking cutlery—and not in a good way.

4. Excuse Yourself for Calls

If you must take a call:

  • Step away from the table

  • Keep it short

  • Rejoin with warmth and grace

πŸ’¬ Try: “Excuse me—I’ll be just a moment.”

5. Hospitality Staff Tip: The Graceful Pause

When a guest is mid-scroll or mid-call, pause a step away and make soft eye contact.
Say warmly:

“Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be happy to assist.”
Respect meets readiness—every time.

πŸ’Ό For Business Dining: Lead with Polished Tech Use

If you're hosting a professional meal, model the etiquette you want to see.
Keep devices out of sight and give your full attention. That’s leadership through presence.

πŸ“Œ Refined Rebels lead by example—quietly, confidently, and with class.

πŸ«– Dining Alone? Be Digitally Mindful

Yes, you can scroll or read while solo—but don’t disappear.
Take a few moments to breathe, smile, and enjoy your surroundings.
Your presence is still a form of hospitality—to yourself and to those who serve you.

🌟 Final Thought: Presence is the Ultimate Luxury

The most unforgettable meals don’t begin with food—they begin with focus.
Being present says, “You matter.”
And that, my friends, is always on trend.

Whether you’re serving, hosting, or simply sitting down to enjoy a moment—digital grace sets the tone for something truly special.

🧁 Let’s Talk Tech Etiquette!

What’s your biggest digital etiquette pet peeve?
Have you ever had to gently remind someone to put their phone away?

🌸 Porch Sips & River Views: Where to Enjoy Your To-Go Cup in Savannah with Style

Live Oak Tree

Hey there, Refined Rebels! πŸ₯‚✨

Now that we’ve covered the how in our last post, Sipping with Southern Grace: Savannah’s To-Go Cup Etiquette Guide, it’s time to explore the where, because in Savannah, how you sip is just as important as where you sip. And as your resident Hospitality Influencer, I’m here to make sure you do both with elegance and ease. πŸ’πŸΎ‍♀️πŸ’•

Whether you’re holding sweet tea with a kick or a classic Chatham Artillery Punch, let’s stroll together through Savannah’s most picturesque sipping spots, all while keeping etiquette, charm, and culture front and center. 🍹🌳

🌊 Riverfront Revelry with Refinement

Ahh, the Savannah River — sparkling waters, cobblestone paths, and history at every step. But before you cozy up on a bench with your to-go cup, remember:

  • Don’t block walkways (especially in front of shops).

  • Be mindful of those adorable families, tour groups, and locals just trying to get to work.

  • Support the street performers and artists you enjoy — even a small tip shows respect and appreciation. πŸŽΆπŸ’΅

Your cocktail might be casual, but your presence should always be considerate.

🌸 Historic District Hangouts

Whether you’re sipping on Jones Street or finding shade under the oaks in Chippewa Square, remember these genteel tips:

  • Choose benches or garden edges, not steps or stoops unless they’re public.

  • Keep conversations soft and laughter light — you’re in someone’s living history.

  • Never rest drinks on monuments or ledges. Southern charm doesn’t leave rings! πŸ˜…

πŸͺ‘ Porch Etiquette 101

If you’re lucky enough to be invited onto someone’s porch — say yes, bring a smile, and remember:

  • Compliment the space. “Your ferns are flourishing!” goes a long way.

  • Hold your cup with grace, napkin underneath if possible.

  • Always ask before lighting up anything — that includes cigars and stories! πŸ˜‰

πŸ’¬ From Cup to Conversation

Savannah is a city where strangers become friends. If you’re feeling social:

  • Open with a polite comment: “That cup is cute — where’d you find it?”

  • Make eye contact, but don’t hover too long.

  • And remember, manners make the moment memorable. A compliment + a smile = a recipe for connection.

πŸ“Έ Sip, Snap, Repeat

Capturing that perfect to-go cup moment?

  • Avoid flash photography at night in quiet squares.

  • Step aside for group shots — don’t block the view.

  • Tag your location and your local vendor (Savannah thrives on support).

Bonus tip: Savannah lighting is golden at dusk. Your mimosa never looked better. 🍊✨

🍹Sipping with Southern Grace: Savannah’s To-Go Cup Etiquette Guide

Savannah welcomes you with open arms and often an open-air libation to match. Picture yourself strolling down our moss-draped streets, to-go cup in hand, past charming squares and historic homes. In this Hostess City of the South – known for its genteel lifestyle and gracious hospitality – enjoying a cocktail while you wander is not only allowed, it’s practically a beloved tradition.

As your Etiquette Evangelist 🍷✨ and local hospitality insider πŸ‘©πŸΎ‍πŸ’Ό, I’m here to help you navigate Savannah’s unique open container culture with confidence, charm, and class. This isn’t about getting tipsy in the streets – it’s about savoring life with a little Southern flair. Let’s sip smart, stroll slow, and stay gracious. πŸ‘

πŸ“ What Is Savannah’s Open Container Law?

Savannah’s open container ordinance allows you to carry one open alcoholic drink on public streets—within a few elegant boundaries:

🍸 Where: You’re golden in the Historic District (River Street to Jones Street, MLK Blvd to East Broad Street) and even over on Hutchinson Island. Stay within these areas to enjoy your to-go beverage legally.

πŸ₯‚ What Cup: Your drink must be in a plastic or city-approved 16 oz aluminum cup—no glass, bottles, or cans allowed on the street.

πŸ§ƒ One at a Time: Only one drink per person, please. Savannah style is all about sipping slowly, not double-fisting.

πŸŽ‚ Who Can Sip: Only guests 21+ may indulge. Always keep your ID handy.

🍷Sipping in Style: EE’s Etiquette Tips

Let’s raise our cups with grace, y’all. Here’s how to drink like a refined rebel:

πŸ§‘πŸΎ‍🦱 Ask Sweetly: A polite “May I get that to-go, please?” is always in good taste. Don’t forget your thank you πŸ’–.

πŸ‘©πŸΎ‍🦰 Sip, Don’t Slurp: Savannah’s magic is in the slow moments. Don’t rush—take in the beauty with every sip and step.

πŸ‘©πŸΎ‍🦱 No Glass Allowed: Glass and cobblestone don’t mix. If it didn’t come in plastic, kindly transfer it before heading out.

🧍🏾‍♀️ Respect the Vibe: Our parks, squares, and streets are shared spaces. Drink respectfully, walk purposefully, and never litter.

πŸ—‘️ Tidy is Classy: Finished your drink? Find the nearest bin. Grace on the go means leaving no trace behind.

⚖️ Gentle Reminders (aka The Rules with a Smile)

Savannah’s sipping rules are sweet—but breaking them? Not so much:

🚫 Wrong Cup? That wine glass or beer can could cost you $121 or more in fines. Keep it classy, keep it plastic.

🍻 Two Drinks = Too Much: Double-fisting can lead to a ticket. Savannah says “one at a time, darling.”

🚷 Out of Bounds: Cross outside the Historic District with a drink? You’re now breaking city code.

πŸš” Bad Behavior ≠ Hospitality: Public intoxication or disorderly conduct isn’t just frowned upon—it’s enforceable. Keep your composure, Queen πŸ‘‘.

πŸ›️ A Tradition of Graceful Hospitality

Savannah’s to-go cup isn’t just about convenience—it’s a symbol of trust, culture, and Southern charm. Our city believes in letting guests feel at home… with a cocktail in hand and a view that soothes the soul 🌳🍹.

You’re not just carrying a drink—you’re carrying a piece of our tradition. A toast to civility, culture, and community.

🌟Come Sip and Savor Savannah

Whether it’s a mimosa in the morning sun ☀️ or a nightcap under the stars ✨, Savannah invites you to sip with poise and explore with joy. The magic is in the experience—and that includes doing it with manners and mindfulness πŸ’…πŸΎ.

From one refined rebel to another: cheers to charm, courtesy, and cocktails on the cobblestone! πŸ’œ

πŸ₯‚ With grace,

Southern Hospitality at the Front Desk: Manners That Make a Memorable First Impression πŸ‘’πŸŽ©

Y’all… I’m back in my happy place! 🏨✨

It’s been three weeks since I started my new role as a front desk agent at the River Street Inn, and let me tell you—it feels so good to be in a space where genuine hospitality lives and breathes. There’s something special about Savannah’s Southern charm, and I get to be one of the first faces guests see when they walk through our doors. That’s an honor I don’t take lightly.

Southern hospitality isn’t just a saying—it’s a way of being. And at the front desk, where first impressions are everything, good manners aren’t optional. They’re essential. Here are a few ways I bring that warm, graceful energy to my daily work:

😁 A Smile is the First "Hello"

Before I say a single word, I greet every guest with a genuine smile. It sets the tone. People can feel when you’re being real—and that little spark of kindness goes a long way.

🌞 Names Matter

One of my favorite things to do is remember names. Whether it’s a guest checking in for the first time or someone who comes back year after year, using their name makes them feel seen. It's a small act with a big impact.

πŸ‘— Keep it Cute & Professional

Looking polished and put-together is part of the job. It's not just about dress code—it's about showing respect for yourself and the people you’re serving. Confidence and class can co-exist. πŸ’…πŸΎ

πŸ‘‚πŸΎ Listen to Understand

Sometimes guests just need to feel heard. Whether it’s a simple request or a concern, I always listen with the intent to help—not just respond. People appreciate being acknowledged, not brushed off.

🍷 Grace Under Pressure

Let’s be real—not every moment at the front desk is peach cobbler and sweet tea. But even when things get tense, I stay calm, courteous, and solution-focused. That’s where true hospitality shines through.

Working here reminds me why I started Manners Manifest in the first place—to create space for conversations around grace, kindness, and the power of treating people well.

So here’s my little challenge for you:

The next time you're in a service space—whether you’re helping or being helped—try leading with a little more warmth, patience, and a little more “please and thank you.” 🀎✨

Let’s keep the spirit of Southern hospitality alive, one gracious moment at a time.

Have a hospitality story to share? Drop it in the comments or tag me on socials. I’d love to hear how manners are showing up in your world. πŸ₯°

Being a Leader, Not a Bully: Building Respect and Results in the Workplace

Hey there, Refined Rebels! 🌞✨

Today, I’m writing to you from a place of peace, purpose, and deep gratitude. As many of you know, I recently transitioned into a new role as a Front Desk Agent at the beautiful River Street Inn in Savannah, GA. And let me tell you… I’m finally in my happy place. πŸ’›πŸ¨πŸŒŠ

But it wasn’t always this way.

Before this chapter, I worked as a Front Desk Receptionist in a long-term care facility, and while I learned a great deal, it was the most emotionally draining season of my professional life. I experienced something I never expected in a helping profession: workplace bullying.

πŸ’₯ When Leadership Turns Toxic

I remember walking into work some days with a knot in my stomach, unsure of what kind of energy I’d be facing. The tension was thick, and I often felt undervalued, second-guessed, and downright disrespected. What hurt most? This wasn’t just a difficult coworker—this behavior came from someone in a leadership position.

Let’s be clear: a title doesn’t make a leader. A true leader uplifts, empowers, and leads with heart πŸ’–—not fear.

πŸ‘‘ What I’ve Learned: A Leader vs. A Bully

Through this experience, I got crystal clear on the difference between a leader and a bully. Here’s what I observed:

✅ A Leader:

  • Speaks with respect πŸ—£️πŸ’¬

  • Trusts the team and encourages independence πŸ‘πŸ½

  • Welcomes ideas and listens actively πŸ‘‚πŸ½

  • Invests in your growth and celebrates your wins πŸŽ‰

  • Leads with empathy and grace πŸ’›

❌ A Bully:

  • Intimidates and manipulates 😀

  • Micromanages from a place of insecurity πŸ”

  • Shuts down conversations and ideas πŸšͺ

  • Points fingers instead of finding solutions πŸ‘ŽπŸ½

  • Shows zero regard for your well-being πŸ’”

🌱 How I Chose to Grow—Not Break

Instead of letting that experience break my spirit, I chose to lean into everything I’ve learned over 35 years of customer service. I focused on self-awareness, empathy, and a growth mindset. I reminded myself that toxic leadership is a reflection of them, not me.

And then... I made a move. A bold one. πŸ’ͺ🏽

🏨 Finding Joy Again—At the River Street Inn

Stepping into the world of luxury hospitality at River Street Inn has been healing. Here, I get to greet guests with warmth, create memorable first impressions, and work alongside a team that values connection and courtesy.

This role reignited the spark in me— that I live for exceptional service, intentional kindness, and elevating everyday interactions. πŸ’«

πŸ’Œ A Heartfelt Reflection for You

To anyone who’s ever endured workplace bullying: I see you. I’ve been you. And I promise—there is life and leadership beyond toxicity. Never let someone else’s behavior make you question your worth, your talent, or your magic. ✨

πŸ’¬ Let’s Talk, Rebels!

Have you ever worked under a bully in disguise as a leader? How did it affect you? And most importantly, how did you grow through it?

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Drop your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear your story. Let’s support and uplift each other.

With joy and grace,

Cassandra Arnold

Grace in Uncertain Times: How Etiquette Anchors Us

AI-Generated - Uncertain Political Times

As we are dealing with the results of the 2024 elections, many of us are reflecting on what lies ahead. Whether it's personal uncertainties, shifts in the economic landscape, or challenges in professional settings, one thing remains clear: how we treat one another during difficult times matters more than ever. πŸ’‘✨

From my short time in hospitality to my current role as a Business Office Coordinator in long-term care, I’ve seen the transformative power of empathy, respect, and professionalism. These aren’t just abstract concepts—they’re tangible tools we can use to steady ourselves and support others in times of uncertainty.

Why Etiquette Matters Now

Etiquette isn’t just about following rules; it’s about creating a foundation of trust and respect. In unpredictable times, practicing good etiquette can:

  • Foster connection when people feel isolated or anxious.
  • Build trust in personal and professional relationships.
  • Promote stability by modeling kindness and professionalism.

Small gestures can have a big impact, whether it's the warmth of a sincere "thank you" or the attentiveness of active listening.

Practical Tips for Navigating Change with Grace

1️⃣ Stay Present and Mindful
In uncertain times, it’s easy to let worry dominate our interactions. Practice mindfulness by being fully present when communicating with others. A calm demeanor can set the tone for more productive conversations.

2️⃣ Empathy is Key
Remember, everyone is facing their own battles. Take a moment to understand someone else’s perspective before responding. Whether it’s a coworker, client, or loved one, empathy goes a long way in diffusing tension.

3️⃣ Adaptability is a Strength
Flexibility is an essential skill in times of change. When plans or expectations shift, approach the situation with a solution-oriented mindset and grace.

4️⃣ Practice Gratitude
Gratitude isn’t just polite—it’s powerful. Expressing appreciation fosters positivity and helps others feel valued.

My Experience: Lessons from Long-Term Care and Hospitality

Transitioning from hospitality to healthcare has reinforced one important truth for me: people thrive when treated with dignity and care. In both industries, empathy, attentiveness, and professionalism are non-negotiable. These principles create not only exceptional experiences but also stronger communities.

A Time for Reflection and Growth

Uncertain times are also growth opportunities. By anchoring ourselves in kindness and resilience, we not only uplift those around us but also navigate challenges with confidence and poise.

I’d love to hear from you—what strategies have helped you stay grounded in times of uncertainty? Let’s share and grow together. 🌱

Sustainability in Service: Eco-Friendly Practices in Healthcare Reception πŸŒπŸ’š

AI-generated - Eco-Friendly Practices in Healthcare Reception

Hello, Refined Rebels! πŸ’Œ In my new role as a receptionist at a long-term care facility, I've had the chance to look at customer service through a different lens—one that blends both compassion and eco-consciousness. With sustainability and mindful practices close to my heart, I've been exploring how we can make a positive impact on the environment, even in the smallest actions at the front desk. Today, I want to share some ideas on how healthcare reception areas can go green, supporting a healthier planet while providing a warm, welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff.

Embracing a Paperless Reception πŸ–₯️🌱

One of the simplest yet most effective ways to reduce waste is by going paperless. In healthcare, paperwork can add up quickly! But with digital tools, we can replace paper forms with electronic check-ins, digital consent forms, and e-signatures. Imagine the savings—not only in paper but in the time needed to file and organize all those documents! By making check-in as seamless as possible, we’re also helping reduce patient wait times, creating a smoother experience for everyone.

Energy-Efficient Lighting and Appliances πŸ’‘⚡

Our reception areas are often lit up 24/7, which can be quite an energy drain. Switching to LED lights is a simple yet impactful change. LEDs use up to 75% less energy than traditional bulbs, and they last much longer too! Motion sensors can be used in back-office spaces or less-frequented areas, turning lights off automatically when they’re not needed. Another way to save on energy? Energy Star-rated appliances at the front desk—like computers, scanners, and printers—can make a big difference.

Eco-Friendly Materials in Patient Areas 🌸♻️

One area that’s often overlooked is the furniture and dΓ©cor we use in waiting areas. Choosing eco-friendly, sustainable materials—such as bamboo, reclaimed wood, or low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paint—contributes to a healthier environment, both inside and outside the building. Patients and visitors often spend considerable time in waiting rooms, so using natural, hypoallergenic materials promotes a calming and breathable space.

Green Cleaning Practices 🌿🧼

Maintaining cleanliness in healthcare is non-negotiable, but traditional cleaning products can often release harmful chemicals into the environment. By choosing green-certified, non-toxic cleaning products, we help reduce chemical exposure for patients, staff, and visitors. Many eco-friendly options are as effective as conventional products, and they help us keep our shared spaces safe and comfortable without sacrificing cleanliness.

Reducing Single-Use Items πŸš«πŸ›️

In healthcare settings, we often rely on single-use items for hygiene reasons. However, there are ways to minimize unnecessary waste! For instance, instead of plastic cups, we can offer biodegradable or compostable options for patient hydration. Even small changes, like using recycled paper for items that must remain disposable or choosing eco-friendly disposables, can make a big difference over time. Simple swaps add up and send a powerful message that we’re committed to both patient care and environmental care.

Educating Staff and Patients πŸŒπŸ’¬

Sustainability works best when it’s a team effort! By creating small signage or digital boards that highlight the facility’s green initiatives, we can educate both staff and patients. Whether it’s a gentle reminder to recycle or a quick fact about how our efforts reduce waste, these prompts encourage everyone to take part in sustainable practices. Staff can feel proud to be part of these initiatives, and patients will notice the extra steps we’re taking to protect our environment.

Encouraging Mindful Use of Resources πŸ’§πŸŒ±

We can take sustainability even further by encouraging mindful use of everyday resources, from water conservation to energy management. Simple habits—like turning off water in between tasks, setting the thermostat to an energy-efficient setting, and using natural light where possible—can all reduce our environmental impact.

Wrapping Up: A Greener Path Forward 🌎✨

Integrating eco-friendly practices into healthcare might seem challenging, but every small step counts! As we shift towards greener practices, we’re not just conserving resources—we’re creating a nurturing environment for patients and setting a powerful example. It’s all about building sustainable habits that align with our commitment to compassionate care, both for people and the planet.

Let’s keep the conversation going! πŸ’¬ What other eco-friendly practices would you love to see in healthcare settings? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and let’s inspire each other to make a difference!

From Hotel Guest to Healthcare Visitor: Welcoming Every Guest with Grace 🌟

AI-generated Hotel Guest transfer to Healthcare Visitor

As someone who’s journeyed from hospitality to healthcare, I know firsthand how meaningful each interaction can be. Whether it’s a hotel guest or a healthcare visitor, my goal is to create a welcoming experience that feels warm, respectful, and truly caring. πŸ’–

Setting the Tone for Warmth and Professionalism
A calm, inviting tone can make all the difference in making people feel at ease. I keep it friendly yet professional to strike that perfect balance. 😌

Crafting Thoughtful Greetings
A warm greeting goes a long way; using someone’s name can add a beautiful, personal touch. For example, I might say, “Hello, Ms. Johnson! I’m Cassandra, here to help you today.” I’ve seen how this small gesture brings a big sense of comfort in healthcare. πŸ’†πŸ½‍♀️

Small Gestures, Big Impact
Small acts of kindness—offering a seat, a glass of water, or simply a smile—can make a visitor feel truly cared for. These thoughtful touches go a long way in creating a lasting impression. 🀲🏽πŸͺ‘

Ensuring Comfort and Clarity
Clear guidance is essential, especially in healthcare. I explain each step in a way that’s easy to follow, reassuring visitors about wait times or the next steps to make them feel more comfortable. πŸ•°️πŸ€—

Sincere Farewells That Leave a Positive Impression
A warm goodbye makes each interaction feel complete. In hospitality, I might say, “We hope to see you again soon!” In healthcare, I like to say, “Please reach out if we can help in any way,” so guests know they’re always valued. πŸŒ»πŸ‘‹πŸΎ

Bringing these hospitality touches to healthcare has been a beautiful way to make every visitor feel respected, seen, and valued. Every guest, whether in a hotel or a healthcare setting, deserves that grace. 🌈

A Day of Research: Exploring Funding Options for "A Place of Joi" 🏑🚜

AI-generated African American woman giving a business presentation

Good Morning Polite Posse! 🌿

Yesterday, I dedicated my time to researching funding options for one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever embarked on—The Tiny Home Project: A Place of Joi. This model eco-friendly, wheelchair-accessible tiny home is all about sustainable living, automation, and accessibility. 🌍♿
It’s more than a house; it’s a movement towards a self-sufficient, eco-conscious lifestyle!

Why Researching Funding is Vital

When you have a vision as bold and purposeful as A Place of Joi, finding the right financial support is key to turning it into a reality. As I looked into the world of grants, crowdfunding platforms, and potential investors, I realized how many opportunities are available for projects centered on sustainability and accessibility. And today, I’m excited to share what I learned! πŸ“

Grants for Eco-Friendly and Accessible Living

Many grants are designed for projects that align with clean energy and sustainable housing. One of my main focuses was finding those that emphasize eco-friendly materials, automation, accessibility, and aquaponics. 🌱 I explored grants to support green building initiatives, including those that back energy-efficient homes and wheelchair-accessible designs. Knowing that these resources are out there gave me such a boost of motivation!

Crowdfunding as a Community Builder

Crowdfunding is another fantastic way to rally support for A Place of Joi. Not only can it help raise money, but it can also foster a community of people who are passionate about sustainable living and accessibility. I spent some time reviewing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and GoFundMe and specialized ones like Fundrise for eco-friendly projects. I’m really leaning toward launching a campaign to not only fund the project but also raise awareness about the power of minimalism and automation in accessible living.

Connecting with Impact Investors

One interesting avenue I hadn’t explored much before today was impact investing. These investors specifically look for projects that aim to make a positive social or environmental difference. Since A Place of Joi combines sustainability and accessibility, it could be the perfect fit for this type of funding! 🏑✨ I’ve made a list of impact investor groups and will start preparing my pitch. Fingers crossed!🀞🏾

The Bigger Picture

Researching funding options today wasn’t just about money. It was about refining the vision for A Place of Joi and ensuring it can inspire and educate others about the importance of sustainable, accessible living. I’m one step closer to making this dream a reality by exploring these options! 🌻

Have any of you been involved in similar projects? Or maybe you’ve supported one? I’d love to hear your thoughts on crowdfunding, grants, or any other ideas on bringing this project to life. πŸ’¬ Feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments below or share your experiences!

Until next time,
Cassandra πŸ’š

Maintaining Grace in Stressful Situations: The Etiquette Evangelist's Guide

AI-Generated Dining for 4

Hello Refined Rebels! ✨

Let’s be honest—life has its stressful moments, doesn’t it? Whether it’s a demanding day at work, unexpected news, or even something as minor as being stuck in traffic, stress has a way of creeping up on us. But here’s the secret sauce: grace under pressure. It’s an art, as with all art, it takes practice.

Maintaining grace during stressful times is not about ignoring how we feel. It’s about navigating through life’s challenges with dignity, mindfulness, and poise. In today’s post, let’s explore how we can embody grace, even when the going gets tough. Ready? Let’s get into it! πŸ„πŸΎ‍♀️

Pause and Breathe

When stress hits, the first thing to do is take a step back and breathe deeply. A simple pause gives you the chance to respond with intention instead of reacting impulsively. This moment of mindfulness gives you a chance to gather your thoughts and regain control. Try the 4-7-8 breathing technique: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. This helps reduce anxiety and brings you back to the present moment. ✨

Reframe the Situation

Sometimes all it takes is a little shift in perspective. Rather than focusing on what’s going wrong, ask yourself, What can I learn from this? Reframing your stress as an opportunity to grow can be a powerful way to keep your composure. Grace comes when we find the silver lining, even in stormy skies. 🌀️

Remember the Bigger Picture

In the heat of the moment, it’s easy to get swept away by stress. But if we zoom out, we often see that what’s stressing us today may not be as monumental as it feels. Ask yourself, Will this matter in a week, a month, or a year? When we remember the bigger picture, we can approach problems with a calm sense of perspective. 🧘🏾‍♀️

Respond, Don’t React

Graceful handling of stress means taking the time to respond thoughtfully rather than reacting emotionally. If someone snaps at you or if plans fall apart, practice responding with empathy and understanding instead of frustration. When we respond instead of react, we stay in control and maintain our inner peace. πŸ’†πŸΎ‍♀️

Stay True to Your Values

In stressful situations, our core values become our compass. Grace comes from staying aligned with your beliefs and behaving in ways that reflect your best self. Whether it’s honesty, kindness, or patience, hold fast to what you stand for—even when things get tough. πŸ’–

Lean on Your Support System

You don’t have to navigate stress alone. Reaching out to friends, family, or mentors can give you the encouragement and advice you need to stay grounded. There’s nothing ungraceful about leaning on your support network—grace comes from knowing when to seek help and how to accept it with gratitude. πŸ‘«πŸΎ

Self-Care is Essential

Lastly, don’t forget that part of maintaining grace is taking care of yourself! Stressful situations can drain our energy, so practice self-care regularly. Whether it’s a soothing bath, a good book, or a walk in nature, making time to replenish yourself ensures that you have the strength to maintain your grace. 🌿

Lastly...

Staying graceful in the face of stress doesn’t mean pretending everything is okay when it isn’t. It means staying true to yourself, showing kindness to others, and handling challenges with dignity. As the Etiquette Evangelist, I can tell you that practicing these tips will help you stay calm and composed, even when life throws a curveball your way.

So, next time stress knocks at your door, take a deep breath, pause, and let grace guide your steps. πŸ’–

How do you maintain grace under pressure? Share your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear your tips and stories! 🌸

Until next time, keep shining with grace and poise, my Refined Rebels! ✨

🌿 A Dream in the Making: The Tiny Home Project Begins

AI-Generated - A Place of Joi

Hey, Refined Rebels! Today marks an exciting new chapter in my journey— the beginning of The Tiny Home Project: A Place of Joi! πŸŽ‰ This is more than just a project for me—it’s the realization of a dream that ties together my passion for sustainability, accessibility, and creating a peaceful life here in the South.

For those of you who know me personally, you’re aware that accessibility is a topic near and dear to my heart. My adult daughter was born with Cerebral Palsy, and I’ve spent years navigating how to ensure our spaces are truly accessible. It’s been a driving force in my life, and it’s one of the biggest inspirations behind this project.

πŸ’‘ What is The Tiny Home Project?
The Tiny Home Project is all about designing a small, eco-friendly, automated, and fully wheelchair-accessible home that embodies minimalist living. It will be a place where sustainability and accessibility come together in harmony. I’m building this tiny home right here in the South on a sizable plot of land. My dream is to create a space that allows me to live off the land with a farm-to-table lifestyle, growing fresh veggies and even fish through an aquaponics system. πŸŒ±πŸ…πŸŸ

Today, I spent time working on the Project Overview to set the foundation for everything I want to accomplish with this initiative. Some of the key aspects I’m planning include:

  • A modular home design made with eco-friendly materials that can expand as needed.
  • Accessibility features like ramps, widened doorways, and smart home technology to ensure that individuals of all abilities can live comfortably and independently.
  • Clean energy solutions like solar power and rainwater harvesting to keep the home energy-efficient and environmentally conscious.
  • An aquaponics system to grow fresh food and a greenhouse for year-round gardening—making farm-to-table living a reality.

πŸ”‘ Why is this important to me?
This project is the beginning of a lifestyle that I’ve always dreamed of—living simply, sustainably, and fully in tune with nature. But even more than that, it’s about making sure that this lifestyle is accessible for everyone, including those with mobility challenges like my daughter. A Place of Joi will serve as a model for sustainable and inclusive living, showing that we can all create spaces that nurture both the planet and the people who live in them.

I can’t do this alone, though. ✨ I’m calling on you, my beloved Refined Rebels, to join me on this journey! Whether it’s through sharing the project, offering ideas, or supporting the cause, every little bit helps. Together, we can show the world how to live sustainably and inclusively.

Let’s make this dream a reality—one step at a time.
🌟 Subscribe to my newsletter for updates, or drop me a line if you want to be part of this exciting adventure! 🌟

Today’s work was all about putting the plan on paper, but I can’t wait to keep you updated as I move forward with land selection, building, and the farm-to-table life I’ve been longing to live.

Until next time, keep dreaming, living with purpose, and making room for joy in everything you do.

With love,
The Etiquette Evangelist πŸ’–

🌿 Dreaming of a Tiny, Green Future 🌍: The Etiquette Evangelists' Journey Towards Sustainable Living

Hey, Polite Posse! πŸ‘‹πŸ½ Cassandra here, aka The Etiquette Evangelist. Today, I’m letting you in on an exciting new chapter I’m working on that brings together my love for simplicity, sustainability, and exceptional living. 🌱✨ I’m embarking on a journey to purchase land and create my dream tiny home—completely eco-friendly, fully sustainable, and powered by clean energy. It’ll be an automated haven where nature meets modern convenience, and I’ll be embracing a farm-to-table lifestyle.

Let me tell you all about it! πŸ‘πŸ’š

🏑 Downsizing to Upgrade: The Tiny Home Dream

I’ve always been a big believer in quality over quantity, and that mindset is driving my passion for building a tiny home. Living in a smaller space means focusing on what truly matters—relationships, experiences, and living with purpose. 🌸 It’s about reducing excess and creating a more intentional life. My dream tiny home won’t just be a place to live; it will be an eco-conscious sanctuary.

♻️ Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Living

In building this tiny home, I plan to utilize sustainable materials like reclaimed wood, recycled metals, and natural insulation to minimize my carbon footprint. 🌍♻️ The design will incorporate energy-efficient windows, rainwater harvesting systems, and composting toilets. I’m committed to creating a space that doesn’t just look good but also does good for our planet. 🌿

⚡ Clean Energy, Fully Automated 🌞

One of the most exciting aspects of my tiny home vision is the use of clean energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, to power the entire space. ⚡ Imagine a home that harnesses the sun's power to keep the lights on and the wind to cool things down. 🌬️🌞

And yes, I’m going tech-savvy, too! The plan is to make my tiny home fully automated—from smart thermostats and voice-activated controls to an energy management system that monitors usage in real time. Imagine adjusting the lights or turning on the coffee maker with just a voice command or even from my phone! πŸ“±πŸŽ›️ This level of convenience and sustainability feels like living in the future—today.

🌱 The Farm-to-Table Lifestyle

Food is such an integral part of life, and I want my tiny home experience to embrace a farm-to-table lifestyle fully. 🚜🌾 I’ll be growing herbs, vegetables, and fruits right in my backyard using organic gardening practices. πŸ₯¦πŸ… There’s something so fulfilling about enjoying a meal that was cultivated with your own hands and cooked just steps away from where it was grown.

I’m also planning to raise a few chickens for fresh eggs and keep a small compost area to enrich the soil for gardening. It’s a lifestyle that will allow me to connect more deeply with nature, knowing exactly where my food comes from and how it’s grown. πŸŒ»πŸ”πŸ³

πŸ’ Why Go Tiny and Green?

The answer is simple: it’s not just about saving space but also about saving the planet. 🌍 By living smaller and smarter, I can reduce my ecological footprint, promote sustainability, and live a healthier, more intentional life. It’s about showing that you don’t need a large space to live large—you need the right mindset. 🧠🏑✨

πŸ“’ Join Me on This Journey!

I’m so excited to bring you along as I make this dream a reality. I’ll be sharing tips, inspiration, and progress updates along the way.
